inspired by Gregoire Haddad thought and work in community service?<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><tr><td>What if Gregoire Haddad were to be present today in the educational development process, through his thought and social commitment and his view of the community service which transcends sectarianism and obstacles \u2013real and imagined ones \u2013 in the curricular and extracurricular school activities? The intervention starts from some of the educational aspects of Gregoire Haddad thought, especially in citizenship education that constitutes the foundation for social cohesion and national unity which are absent in the modern history of Lebanon. It presents a critique of the differentiated approaches of citizenship which create a social and cultural classification based on sectarian affiliation in contrast to the civil approach which thrives on diversity, as is the case in most contemporary democratic societies. Furthermore, it discusses the situation of religious teaching in schools, yet out of the educational development process. Also, it discusses the problematic of teaching history in particular that related to the Palestinian cause.
